In the beginning, there was Genesis, and Peter Gabriel was best known as their theatrically riveting lead singer. By the end of 1974, though, he was feeling “part of the scenery.” So he picked himself up and “walked right out of the machinery” to start a new career on his own.
It was gamble that paid off handsomely. His success as a prog rocker served him well for his first solo releases. But Gabriel would soon add an impressive variety of other achievements to his resumé: pop star, MTV icon, Grammy Award winner, stunning visual artist, curator of world music, creative visionary for his live concerts, soundtrack composer and contributor, multimedia designer and performer, human rights activist, and more.
Join Great Moments in Vinyl as we pay tribute to this remarkably innovative musician with two sets of music from throughout his solo career…with a special focus on the album So, the record that one reviewer described as “the right showcase for every part of his restless genius.”
Great Moments in Vinyl plays Peter Gabriel. Friday, September 13th at The Venue. Featuring a line up of Great Moments in Vinyl veterans: Alton Smith, Kevin Campbell, Erik Norman, aerin tedesco, Karli Bunn, Greg Rapp, and William Lindsey Cochran.
Great songs. Great stories.
