The Rolling Stones started out wanting nothing more than to be the best blues band in Britain. But by the mid-’60s they found themselves at the top of the pop charts instead. And as the winds of change approached in the ‘70s, they found themselves drawn in a new direction, combining their roots in the blues with the driving rhythms of rock and serving it up with plenty of edge and attitude.
The end result?
The Stones felt bold enough to proclaim themselves The Greatest Rock and Roll Band in the World,…and then they proceeded to prove it.
