Great Moments in Vinyl plays Billy Joel
September 9, 2021 • Joliet Area Historical Museum
It was 1977, and for all the records he’d put out, Billy Joel was not having much success. And his record company was noticing. Billy didn’t realize it at the time, but his label was going to give him one more chance. Fortunately, he hooked up with the right producer and got to work with his touring band in the studio. The result was The Stranger, a million selling album that was breakthrough Billy Joel needed. And his career has never faltered since.
This show featured Greg Woods on vocals and piano with Daniel Rausch on keyboards, Jeremy Peters on guitars, John Bowes on saxes and flute, Jim Barclay on drums and sound effects, and William Lindsey Cochran telling the stories and playing the bass.
